MEDIATION SERVICES
Since 1987, in addition to my law practice, I have provided mediation services.
When I am engaged as a mediator, my role is to assist the mediation participants to articulate their interests, gather information, and brainstorm options for the resolution of issues. In my capacity as mediator, I do not provide legal advice, and recommend that participants consult with attorneys during the mediation process.
Mediation can be an effective process tool to resolve many different kinds of issues. I have worked with married couples, parties who have divorced and experience continued confict, grandparents, and unmarried parents.
One common area for mediation is post-decee parenting issues. Many Shared Parenting Plans include a provision requiring mediation prior to the initiation of a court action. In addition to problem-solving around specific issues, mediation can also be an extremely effective process to assist parents to learn a new post-divorce communication paradigm.
